Climate Change Initiative of Howard County (CCIHC)
First Year Progress Report
We held our first organizing meeting on May 18, 2007 in Tim Sosinski's office. About 20 people attended and 12 decided to join a four week discussion circle "Global Warming: Changing Course". After 4 sessions and a potluck dinner, we decided to continue for another four weeks, using the book "Low Carbon Diet". After another party ("Live Earth: 7/7/2007") we decided to launch our initiative. A total of 15 people agreed to be a part of our monthly meetings.
In our first year we have:
- chosen a name
- designed a LOGO
- registered a URL
- launched a website
- created a generic email address
- designed fliers and handouts describing our goals and offerings
We have also:
- trained 12 "Circle Starters"
- trained 9 "Facilitators" (Mentors & Introducers)
We have:
- started 8 discussion circles
- involved 69 people
- 6 active Circle starters
- 7 active Mentors
We have also
- co-sponsored several events
- had several articles written about us
- lobbied at the Howard County Council and in Annapolis
Currently, we are pursuing 15-20 potential venues for circles this fall!
